The CRT&A Club is a Chapter of Model T Ford International not affiliated with the Ford Motor Company. The club is very active in planning events during the year as we host a Winter Swap Meet, regional and local car tours and other outings. Most of the local activities take place in the Mid-Ohio Valley around Marietta, OH and Parkersburg, WV. We strive to provide restoration advise, help others and share the history of our old cars. Our club loves to drive our old cars and eat ice cream!
Founded in 2001, the Club was form to encourage and promote active interest of the public in the preservation and restoration of antique autos, particularly the Model T & A Fords, their accessories, lore and literature.
The intent of the chapter is threefold:
1. Provide a common forum for owners of Classic T & A & other antique cars where restoration information, dimensional data, and available spare parts can be both obtained and swapped between the chapter members.
2. Promote an interest in the history of Classic T & A & other antique cars by sharing accumulated knowledge with outer enthusiasts.
3. Provide opportunities for enthusiasts such as tours, swap meets, and exhibits of their efforts in restoration of classic antique cars.
History: Many Model T and A owners in the Ohio Valley near Parkersburg and Marietta came together in Williamstown in 1999 for a small show and swap meet. The event was planned by Daniel Atkinson and Charles Whipkey. Owners came from Parkersburg, Vienna, Williamstown, Lubeck, Weston, Gassaway, Clarksburg, and other places in between. Owners felt there was a need to organize tours just for the older generation of cars, particularly the Model T and A’s. These enthusiast were looking for others to share new and old experiences with. The excitement of forming a club to do tours, swaps meets, and shows grew.
In the spring of 2001, 21 interested people met to being plans to become a club. These Charter Members of the Country Roads Classic T & Antique Club felt that organizing a local club under “The Model T Ford Club International” was the best alternative after reviewing other’s requirements. The International Club is very well organized, sponsors many events and tours and provides adequate guidance and leadership for local clubs. Chapter members welcomes anyone interested in antique cars, but will be active recruiting owners of early Fords, before 1933. (Early Fords A,B,C,AC, F,K,N,R, S, Model T, and Model A) Charter Members felt that is was very important that all members of the local club, no mater what type of car they own, be a member of the International Club, thus making it a requirement of all members.
As a member of Car Club, you will receive monthly newsletter, discount on tours and dinners and opportunities to volunteer to create more interest in the restoration of antique cars and strength families.
